GEORGE III C. 1780 CUTLERY - 66pc SHEMEL SHEFFIELD STEEL - GREEN STAINED HANDLES (#51095)
Our Reference #: 51095
A rare part large suite of c.18th knives and forks by Shemel of Sheffield with unmarked silver mounted green stained bone handles and steel uppers. There are 22 large dinner/table knives (10.5 inch), 23 large forks (8.5 inch), 10 smaller knives (8.5 inch) and 11 smaller forks (7.25 inch). Total of 66 pieces.
Condition: We have not polished these up and there is obviously surface rust etc as expected with steel of this age, various issues with ferrules and mounts missing or damaged etc & most of the handles have cracks. That said the steel is generally structurally in very good order other than one of the larger forks having one blunted prong. They are sold as seen & more of a curio, or for prop use, than for actual use.
Identifying Marks: SHEMEL to blades only.
