Victorian Silver Plated Biscuit / Wafer Box - Sheffield C. 1875 Antique (#57062)

Our Reference #: 57062

A Victorian EPBM biscuit box with twin opening lid, on pedestalled base with chased foliate decoration. Naturalistic twig form handle with holly leaves. Made by James Deakin & Sons of Sheffield.

Condition: Has obvious wear mainly to the 2 lid flaps but also to the central body area and slightly to pedestal. Interior is good and gleaming. Some slight knocks to the lids along their hinged ends and the lids are only hinged at their centres rather than all along the hinge bar where there solder has perished. Still functions pretty much as intended but the lid handle does have a tendency to lean towards one side rather than true vertical.
