A most beautiful and unusual spoon for its time, this is gorgeous piece by Yapp & Woodward, fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1845. Gilt wash to bowl. Probably intended as a salt or snuff spoon. Lion rampant crest.

Never seen another like this one! The base is formed and engraved as a birds wing and the bars are formed as crossed feathers. It has a ring to the larger end for retaining a butter dish. Comes with the later ramekin and a very nice butter spreader. Bears a design registration number equating to 1895 and made by Norton & White of Birmingham.
