An impressively large canteen set for 8 comprehensive settings in Jesmond pattern by Pinder Bros of Sheffield, probably late 1930's/early 50's in date. Comprises 8 each of: dinner fork, dinner knife, side/dessert fork, side/dessert knife, fish fork, fish knife, dessert spoon, soup spoon, teaspoon, coffee spoon, grapefruit spoon, cake fork, tea knife + 4 tablespoons, 3 piece carving set, bread knife, cake knife, pair of fish servers, salt & mustard spoons and 5 additional loose cake forks. Total of 122 pieces.
Condition: All hand polished & gleaming silver with some use marks. Mostly very presentable, one soup spoon has a spot to its underside of bowl, one coffee spoon has a spot to inside of bowl, a few of the dessert forks have some slight rear side prong tip wear. Some of the steel knife blades have some small spots primarily to the hilt joins areas but its nothing unsightly. One fish knife has a slight bend to its tip of blade. The salt & mustard spoons are plain replacements and one of the tea knives is a silver handled replacement in Kings pattern. Carving fork thumb rest has lost its rigidity, but fork is still useable obviously. Overall its an impressive and very useable set. Case has some slight marks but not at all bad for its age and size. Slight fluffiness to interior lining. No key.
