Our Reference #: 53374

A pair of meat dish covers by Elkington Mason made in 1857. They have good armorial crests to each side of a Billy goat within a belt and buckle device and the Latin motto 'Virtutis Dignum Avorum'.

Condition: Both overall gleaming silver with some surface marks, some very minor nickel bleed wear in a few places and some dents. The inside plating has some cracking from where the crests were applied - so that has always been there. It doesn't cause any problems. Both handles have a slight lean from true vertical. One small section of rim has a little gap but its not noticeable unless looking for it.
