A fine looking antique claret jug with very nice etched design including florals and birds. Sheffield made. Glass fine. There is historical very well done hard-soldering of the handle join and the ‘S’ join to the top section of handle – it is not that obvious unless you are looking for it and doesn’t detract – it is absolutely solid and probably stronger than when it was first made. An extremely rare novelty Victorian drinks measure – you usually see ‘Just a thimbleful’ examples but we have never seen one in the tooth design before now, albeit not in the best of conditions. Made from EPBM, it bears a reverse impressed PODR mark for design in 1880 (letter ‘J’). Obvious wear to plating (has lost most of its silver) and denting to the rim. GBP49.99

LOVELY 50PC ANTIQUE CANTEEN OLD ENGLISH SILVER PLATED SHEFFIELD CUTLERY Item #61172
A very nice looking early c.20th set, the case having a dark mahogany stained veneer with vacant brass shield. Cutlery is acetate faux bone handled with Firth Stainless blades and made by L. Harrison of Sheffield (knives are 24.5cm / 9.5 inch and 21.8cm / 8 inch). The flatware is Old English pattern and has a mix of markings but all match nicely. Comprises 6 each of dinner knife, dinner fork, side knife, side fork, dessert spoon, teaspoon, coffee or egg spoon + 2 tablespoons, sugar tongs and shovel, 2x mustard spoons and 2x salt spoons. Total of 50 pieces. All hand polished & gleaming silver with some use marks. Some slight wear to a couple of the condiment spoons. A few of the blades have slight blemishes and one of the dinner knives has a slight pit to blade. The 2 worst case examples are shown in a separate photo but overall they are not at all bad. The flatware is a slight mix of makers marks including EPNS, EPNS A1 etc. The shovel spoon is Nickel Silver but absolutely gleaming. Case overall good, very nice interior, some scuffs/scratches to exterior. GBP124.99
