Silver Plate, Sheffield, EPNS, Old Sheffield Plate

Here are 2 silver plated trophies in stands, presumably sailing club related. The larger one (17cm/6.75 inch) is titled 'D.S.C. 1st single handed summer 1st wineglass summer 1981', the smaller (15.2cm/ 6 inch) 'D.S.C. Wineglass 1987 2nd'. Measurements exclude the height of the plinth.

Here are 3 trays sold together - the smallest galleried tray is silver plated on copper and chased with a grapes & vine design, swag gallery decoration to rim, IFS of Sheffield - this one measures 39.5cm long. The next largest is a Viners Silver Rose tray with chased surface and ball and claw feet and measures 55cm across the handles. The largest one is by Cavalier, has chased surface, shell adorned handles and arched gallery rim. It also measures 55cm across the handles but is wider than the Viners tray.

A lovely looking pair of Regency period candle scissors by J. Gilbert. These are close-plated (silver on steel).

A good looking jug by Henry Stratford Ltd of Sheffield with horizontal ribs to body and part fluted lower body and lid. Capacity c. 1 pint.

A lovely pair of early 'sugar nippers'. Close plated. These bear the word 'Patent' with a crown over EP mark and 3 further smaller crowns.

A deco period 'frying pan' style silver plated entree dish by Harrods, with turned and carved wooden handle and internal 3 section removable divider. Removable lid handle so that the lid can be used as a secondary serving dish if desired.

A trefoil shaped EPNS arts & crafts hammered style fruit bowl raised on ball feet. 'Marked WR Loning Design Made in England'

A pair of café au lait pots by Asprey with wicker bound handles & 'coffee bean' lid finials. These are c. 3/4 of a pint size. Lids are monogrammed with a conjoined 'MC' or 'CM'. These date c. 1930.

A lovely smaller sized hotplate by Asprey with wicker bound handles and original adjustable burner. These were made to take the café au lait set etc and date c. 1930. Could also be used to warm a smaller entrée dish etc.

A vintage silver plated cruet set by Barker Ellis, the salt and mustard pots with blue plastic liners and with the spoons shown.

A good vintage silver plated mustard pot by Barker Ellis with removable plastic liner and silver plated spoon, along with its matching pepper pot. These are 'double capacity' compared with the standard smaller size variety.

An assortment of 7 vintage silver plated drinks trays, useful for a restaurant, pub or weddings etc. The smallest tray with 2 handles has a diameter of 25cm, the largest tray has a diameter of 35.5cm.

An interesting piece, looks to be c. 1880 ish from the EPNS markings. It is small as in the size of a gaming place marker, don’t think that it is a pipe tamper, it looks more like a gaming piece due to its plinth style mount. Weighted base.

A small collection of silver plated tableware including a French 34.3cm platter with reed & ribbon rim design, a similar designed unmarked open pot, a Mappin & Webb tumbler coaster, a pedestalled small bowl (sugar etc) with fretwork gallery, an unmarked matching milk jug & sugar bowl with finely beaded rims.

A pair of Old Sheffield Plate sugar tongs with Bright cut work, made c. 1780.

An Old Sheffield Plate entrée dish with detachable handle so that the lid can be used as a secondary serving dish of desired. Gadrooning to rims. Underside of base dish is tinned.

An early c.20th larger sized silver plated on copper sauce boat with nice hoofed feet and gadrooned rim decoration. Scroll handle.

A very nicely worked spent bullet & shell that has been turned into a fruit knife with chased engraving, vacant shields and a pendant loop to top, and silver plated.
