A lovely thing this, unusually larger than most serving bowls and with gorgeous large lion mask and ring handles. Georgian style, made to look like Old Sheffield Plate so probably Edwardian in date. Shown with a wine bottle to help gauge its size. Would also make a fab multi-wine/champagne bottle cooler without its lid.
Condition: Gleaming silver, no dents other than a couple of gentle knocks to interior base. There are some faintish 'lines' in the plating where we presume the lid was kept in place for a while with elastic bands, which have slightly eaten into the silver, they are not showstoppers. Lid handle is 'hard soldered' and shows a little excess solder so it may have been off and resoldered in place at some stage. Height measurement given is to the rim, excluding the lid height.
