A very fine looking pair of bright cut tongs with acorn nip ends & nice floral chasing. Partial hallmarked. Maker probably Joseph Steward II. Small marital monogram to interior of one arm of ‘I over RR’. Very good overall, possible historical erasure of a monogram to bow. GBP59.99

EXETER 1849 STERLING SILVER SUGAR TONGS FIDDLE THREAD – ANTIQUE Item #53961
A pair of tongs by Robert Williams & Sons (Robert, James & Josiah Williams) fully hallmarked for Exeter 1849. Monogrammed with a single initial ‘P’. These interestingly appear to have been made from 3 pieces of silver like cast arm tongs as there are feint visible lines where the bow meets the arms. Minor surface stress lines at one of these joins. Some slight rub at the monogram and possible historical erasure. GBP49.99

A pair of tongs in fiddle thread shell by William Eley & William Fearn, partially hallmarked for London 1798. Very early for this pattern and would have been amongst the first pieces that this partnership made. No monograms. Historical very good repair to one arm (invisible from exterior of arm). A pair of bright cut tongs probably by William Stroud bearing partial marking of include duty mark and lion passant, dating fairly accurately c. 1785. No monograms. There are some surface stress type lines to inside of the hallmarked arm but they appear to be original & probably caused by the hallmarking. Possible historical monogram erasure to bow. Makers marks were not well punched. GBP49.99
