A nice looking Georgian baby rattle and whistle with mother of pearl teething ring. Bright cut work. Makers mark of IT only, no hallmarks. The bright cut work is typical of c. 1780-1790 with ‘stars’ etc. Overall good, missing bell to underside of whistle area. Whistle still works fine. Some minor small dents. The other of pearl ring has an area of wear where it has rubbed on the silver and the silver loop is wearing a little thin and has a split but still retains the ring well enough. This really is a stunning piece of glass, shaped like a Georgian muffineer it has a very heavy pedestal base, deep cutwork body and silver plated screw top lid. Probably Edwardian period (Georgian revival). It is very fine quality! Glass is overall good with some tiny fleabites to base rim, a small dig to upper pedestal and a small graze to the shoulder area – none of these really detract very much, The lid is absolutely gleaming silver. An unmarked silver and carved mother of pearl cake fork by George Unite (it is quite usual for his pieces like this to have no hallmarks). The handle has a feint carved monogram which appears to be ‘JB’. Overall good with a slight smooth chip to very end of handle. Monogram would originally have been inked in black. No hallmarks but it is definitely silver, not plated. GBP17.99

This is a really nice thing with a fabulous concertina action expanding neck, revealing an interior with a pocket. 2 chain loops to frame. Lid is engraved with name ‘A. Maddock’. Mid to late Victorian period. Some wear and tear but not at all bad for age. Exterior of the leather has scuffs in places.
